Aireon
Aireon is a trailblazer in airspace data and technology: air traffic surveillance was instantly transformed with the advent of their space-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) technology. But Aireon lacked a clear brand story to elevate and clarify its product offerings and thought leadership, and this came to life with a new web strategy and design.
The Process
From the start, I worked closely with my agency team and Aireon’s C-suite to develop a clear story that underscored the revolutionary significance of Aireon’s ADS-B technology. I helped to create a new forward-looking brand vocabulary which brought this story to life and established consistency across all marketing channels. The new look brought a modern, technical tone that was missing from the brand.
Next, we dove into web strategy to expand this new look to Aireon’s corporate website. Our goal was not just to create a site that looked different, but to create a more intuitive experience that presented the information that users need.
UX Challenges
Our user research found two major blockers for those using Aireon’s old site: the product line was confusing and didn’t clarify the capabilities and benefits of each product, and their written resources and thought leadership were difficult to find.
Working with the Aireon C-suite team as well as their product engineers, we worked to better define the Aireon product line and allow each product to tell its own unique story. Further, we greatly increased the ease with which users can reach product pages by adding new doorways from the homepage, audience pages, case studies and solutions pages. In my page designs, I compounded the significance of each of these product pages with new, engaging parallax modules that distill each product story in a scrolling text block.
We created a clear site taxonomy that allowed us to connect Aireon’s robust thought leadership across the site, pulling this content up from the buried levels where it once lived. Blogs, articles, and case studies are now surfaced across the site on related topical pages. The new Resource Center makes it much easier for users to find specific content with faceted filters and search capabilities.
